A conversation: you and your clients

Here's some background to get our conversation started.

I'm a finance and strategy consultant for scaling e-commerce and technology businesses. My biggest ins are when businesses need funding, need to upgrade their finance processes, or want to invest in new channels or territories.

First of all, who could I refer to you? With my experience in online food, fashion and homewares (including, as CFO, investing in marketing and technology platform builds), I have a global network of tech and marketing leaders, particularly in online marketplaces.

These Food and Fashion infographics give you a flavour of my involvement in those markets.

I write a blog about online marketplaces, called Aggregators. From time to time I mine its 400 subscribers for leads and there could be something for you in there.

Secondly, maybe I could help your clients in my expert sectors, with financial planning for scaling and control challenges. Perhaps a client needs to exert greater control over their tech stack build, or is unsure how much to invest in some martech that you're building. Here's an example - my GAME decision-making framework that I coach clients in.

Third, you may be part of a data architecture or AI build out. Here's my advocacy on Data and AI for 2025, giving businesses some practical steps to better integrate data into their businesses.

Fourth, you may be helping a scale up where funding is a challenge. Here's my funding expertise along with some of the other Ways to engage with my services.

Fifth, if a client is looking into a new market or strategy, I can facilitate the Strategy analysis and decisions required, based largely on my experience (on both sides of the Atlantic) with Just Eat, the erstwhile owner of GrubHub, and NotOnTheHighStreet, an Etsy rival in the UK.

Finally, you may spot a need for some coaching on how to deal with investors or how to professionalise finance. Take a look at getting to Next level finance and at my How to do it insights.
